Teaching: Pixels & Portraits
PGCE (teacher training) June 2004
This was a drawing and animation project with a class of 13 year-olds, exploring the visual relationship between mosaics and digital images. After completing a group mosaic of a pixellated drawing, students were then required to use their camera phones to create animations of each other.
After some instruction and collaboration from the ICT department, the students were able to document their photos and animations on the web. Have a look at the PixelPortraits website.
As part of the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at Goldsmiths College, University of London, I taught Art and Design full time for a year in two high schools: this was during a two-month placement at Oxted School in Surrey, just outside London.
