The finished portraits were scanned into the computer using Paint Shop Pro and pixellated. We then worked back into the pixellated images, picking out details like the eyes and mouth in darker colours and reducing the number of tones we could see. Lyndsay Cox’s pixellated portrait was selected to make a large mosaic from; we divided it up into 25 enlarged sections and worked on them separately, sticking down hundreds of 2cm square paper pixels. We had to look very carefully at the different tones of each pixel, so that we were all working on each section in the same way.
